If the wires are connected back up correctly colour wise at plug the fault must be at the fuse box under dash. Mine had a blue wire running from radio positive to off side rear lights when I got it. Disconnected it and nothing happened. Still cant see why they did it.

did you try what I suggested?

If that doesnt work it means there are either broken wires in the wiring loom, or the ignition switch is broken

Actually that might be the next thing to investigate - if the ignition switch actually has damage.

I don't want to be messing about with the electric s in the car,, trying to find someone who can do it

Ok - Here is a list of all the wiring and where they go for the radio and hazard switch.

Red wire goes from the interior fuse box to the radio
Red/Black goes to the CD changer from the fusebox
Yellow/Red goes to the Radio to the fusebox
Brown goes to radio from Interior illumination (dimmed)
Black is the earth
Yellow/Black Radio to the Left rear speaker
Green/White Radio to the Right rear Speaker
Yellow Radio to the right rear speaker
Grey Radio to the left front door speaker
Green/Yellow Radio to the left front door speaker
White Radio to the right front door speaker
Brown Radio to the right front door speaker
Grey/Red Radio to the left dashboard speaker
White Radio to the left dashboard speaker
Grey Radio to the right dashboard speaker
Grey/red Radio to the right dashboard speaker

Wiring for the Hazard Warning Switch

Green/Black - goes from switch to warning light
Black - Earth
ALL these wires go into the fusebox from the hazard switch
Green/Grey
Green/Orange
Green/Red
Yellow/Brown
Green/Yellow
Blue/White
