Key Fobs Dont Work Dealer Told to change CEM
Hi All,
I recently bought the V50 2009. I got a little bit scammed. I was told key fobs don't work when I change the battery it will be alright. However, the problem is bigger. I called a couple of mechanics and asked. They said it needs re-programming the key so that it would pair with a car but I need to take the car to authorized Volvo dealer because only they can do it. I took it to an authorized Volvo dealer. They did diagnostics and said that it needs a new CEM module as far as I understand and then if that doesn't work they will erase the car's computer and re-install again. Something like that. We don't talk the same language so there are small misunderstandings. Does this all make sense? That is the reason I am asking. The other authorized Volvo dealer said they would reprogram the key for the less than half price of changing the CEM module but they didn't even check it yet. All the help is appreciated. |
