Pulley Noise.
I have a 1996 940 estate with B230FK engine on 209,000 miles and recently changed my leaking water pump for an SKF one, suspecting it was getting noisy, but was fine
I'm getting bearing noise from the front somewhere while the fan, alternator, PAS and AC belts are rotating. Do the pulleys themselves have any bearings or does the Alternator, PAS pump AC compressor have bearings to enable the pulleys to spin? Think I'll have to start disconnecting the Alternator belt first and so on to see if I can find what is causing the noise. Many thanks. James.. James. |

Use a screwdriver as a stethoscope and you'll soon narrow down the noise

Could be alternator bearings James. Have you tried using a long screwdriver as a stethoscope ? Being very careful obviously
