Smile Black Cylindrical Container attached to the wiper Tank

Hi All, would anyone by any chance know what is the Black Plastic container attached to the wiper tank is for? You can easly have a visiual on it if you remove the Driver side/Right side Front indicator light. It is Cylindrical and has two rubber pipes attached to it on the top. One of those pipes in my Car were loose and it smelled petrol al over it. I am just wondering what does it do exactly.

My Car is V40 T4 2001 Estate

I think it's a charcoal vapour canister. That's as much as I can help.
