that's what i thought ,but the fixing bolts are cthe shear type so need to be drilled out to replace. try my fix with the self tapper. i did it about a year ago, last week stalks started to move again. just removed the cowls and tightened it up again, 10 minute job.

Jez

Spot on!

Tried the self-tapping screw trick and it's as solid as a rock now.

Thanks!!!

Now just to solve the problem of those creaking noises at slow speed on the passenger side ....

Put a few drops of Superglue down each side where the metal stalk holder assembly meets a non-moving metal pipe, inside which is the steering shaft, yesterday evening. Basically I took off the cowl and dropped some glue down from directly above, right in between the moving metal part and the fixed pipe.

Good few hours in the car today and it's all good!! Thanks to the posters here!!

Lol reading this and realised mine does the same, another little job to do I've even forgotten to look at mounting 2 spotlights above the front number plate for that hard core touring look

Hah, it is now 30deg C + here in Toronto and just last week this issue was driving me crazy. I was just about to post something and came across this. Thanks for the recommendations. I'm going to give this a go when I have a moment to spare. Mine is a 2003 V40 with same issue.
