GUIDE: How to replace the SRS Control module
This is a guide for people who get the dreaded SRS-0001 "Control module internal fault" Error Code. This error code comes up when the SRS Control module is faulty. It will trigger the SRS light and you won't be able to erase any other SRS error codes. A new unit from Volvo is around £300. The good news is that you can get a second hand one for around £25-£40. Quite a few people with this problem were told that the replacement module must be programmed by a dealer. I have tested and swapped a few of these and can confirm with 100% certainty that NO PROGRAMMING is needed. It is a straight plug and play. Just make sure you check the part number of your SRS module and get the same one.
For this job, you will need:
The SRS control module is located under the centre console, which will need to be removed. Lift the gear lever leather gaiter from the rear Remove the rubber mat Push these two clips towards the middle and lift up the gear lever suround trim Unplug the 12V lighter connector. Open the lid of the centre console and remove the rubber mat Using a flat blade screwdriver or a penknife blade, unclip this plastic cover Undo the two screws Undo these two screws too at the front of the centre console Raise the centre console from the rear and wiggle it out. You may have to raise or lower the handbrake lever to make it easier for the centre console to slide out Now the centre console is out of the way, you can see the SRS module secured by 3 10mm bolts. Undo them DO NOT try to pull the SRS Module pink connector. You just need to push in that small pink lug and slide the orange bracket over it. It will unlock and lift the connector up. To plug in the large pink connector back to the SRS module, make sure the orange bracket is in the open position. Place (DO NOT PUSH) the pink connector on the SRS module and simply slide the orange bracket over until it locks. The pink connector will go in while you are rotating/sliding the orange bracket To fit everything back together, just follow this guide in the reverse order.

Hi - do you still have the photos that accompany this guide. I need to remove the SRS control module from a 2007 C70 and the V50 is similar I'm told.
Thanks |

I've started remaking all my guides on Facebook, so here is the guide: https://www.facebook.com/notes/alex-...8024701621953/
I am afraid that this guide is for the older S40 MK1 and not the newer MK2, which indeed are pretty much the same as the 2007 C70

Removing the arm wrest console is a ball ache. It's so tricky. It's like the hand brake is in the way. Will I have tlo remove it?

Is that for a 2000-2004 S/V40? If yes, then it helps if you lift the handbrake as high as you can. Then you tilt the centre console upwards from the back and then it just wiggles out. Once you've done it once or twice, it becomes extremely easy

It was a 2012 C30. Got there in the end. Received device back from crash data this week and will be fitting this weekend.

V60 SRS module
Hi.
I got problem with my V60 D4 2015. Car been involved in the accident. No airbags been deployed but SRS light come on. After connect it to the diagnostic computer car has faults codes for passenger and driver seatbelts pretensioners deployed and crash data full. I replaced seatbelts but only driver site code been cleared. Is it possible that I replaced seatbelts unnecessary instead of sending SRS module to crash data specialis? If so could anyone explain me how to remove SRS module from V60 because I can't find any information how to get rid of armrest to get into it. Thanks |

Hi I have the red 'airbag' light on again having swapped the SRS control unit for a second hand one in May. I'm going to disconnect & reconnect it to see if that cures the problem, however if I need to get a replacement one does Gatos have any for sale please? I've tried a PM but the site won't let me send one.
Thanks |
