I think I was just caught by surprise. I was concentrating soley on the blind right-hand curve I was taking. That section is narrow and oncoming cars always come tearing down that section, despite it not being their right of way and you can always expect the local council estate kids to run straight between the cars to go onto that field. This is a road that you dare not drive fast down as there is just too much scope to hit other cars/kids/animals.

Also, that silver Insignia has just pulled in, but was parked well away from the kurb, with it's wheels sticking out into the narrow blind corner I was taking, which again had took my attention.

Though to be honest, had I put my foot down in that spot I think I'd have had a worse collision with the Insignia. My dashcam skews the distance of things compared to others I've used, so it perhaps looks like there was enough room to for me to zip into, but I feel that would have been a wreckless action.

I'm usually pretty good at anticipating others who do stupid things, but this girl just took me completely off guard. I still don't know how she hit my car. I can only assume she hit the brakes but didnt stall the car.. unexpected engine laboring can propel a car forward if you don't do the emergency stop correctly.

I understand better now, thanks, you must drive a bit like I do on busy housing estates and assume there's going to be an oncoming car or children playing rather than be surprised by it when it's too late.

If you were to show the footage to the insurers they'd see that the other car failed to stop at the give way markings and entered the space where your car was, it looks that she was positioned far to much to the right hand side too.

Dash cams have wide angle lenses so everything looks further away than it really is...
