Default Deja view!

Looking at your posts and pictures I thought I was looking at my car which is currently undergoing a remarkably similar treatment, although I don't have your metalwork skills unfortunately! Same colour too.

Great to see the approach and step by step pictures - not wishing to hijack your thread but my photos below - must get together when we're both finished! Front windscreen corners were just going as you have described, plus front wings only - insides were ok, and rear arches. Trying to get it finished to take on holiday in June!!

Keep up the (very) good work, Ric

great stuff Ric they look nice in white and feel free to post in here or make your own thread more the merrier i say

And your windscreen photos show exactly the key areas under the seals which are hidden from the eye, but if that area is rotten under the dash then thats what will be under the seals lurking

from your photos i would say you had twice as much metal to work with than me my poor old gal was tipping on a knife edge even with me she was bad at the front so the only area thats original is 98% of the inner wings rest was shot to bits and covered with fibreglass hidding the rot

but we prevail hey and yes we must hook up at some point when we have done our projects

Robert

Default another day hard at it ....

well here is another update for today i needed to get the bumper off the rear of the car and drain the petrol tank ready to take it out pesky self tapers lol so much easier when you know the trick to the trade and work them out one by one .

after all that was done we could bolt on the frame supports and jack the car up , took the wheels of all round and spin her round to the desired positions pinned off .
we were set to crack on with the welding started on the sill area ( inner sill before moving onto the bottom corner repair section ) as it was needing some major work to bring back to full health ( tacked the bottom corner of arch in place for now till i know its in the right place, i need to carry on with the inner arch and rear valance - so i have some datum points to be 100% sure i have the correct fittment also there was one bit i was not happy how the welder was runing just shows how much difference a quarter turn on the regulator makes on the underside of sill im ashamed of the bird pooh welding #pic 10 thats when i needed to re-adjust the regulator to run as it should do smooth runs

more updates tomorrow folks ............

Wow... I really like that routisserie that you have there, because it looks as though it would be fairly easy to load the car.. It also looks like you have an Amazon Rescue area there with the others in the background.. LOL Good work.

yes thats been so handy having the flip over machine i can do 360 degree and go round and round if we wanted to .

lol yes i have three in that workshop atm and my estate in the bodyshop so you could call me the amazon rescue guy - this white amazon tho is taking a bit longer and more panels than i was hoping but if a jobs worth doing its worth doing right it will be one solid car afterwads .

Here is some more photos of whats being going on today - we fitted a new inner arch ( new old stock hence slight surface rust for now till polished shiny ) & rear fluted valance an the new outer arch repair section , some welding has not been cleaned up yet as i run out of time this afternoon but will be done in the morning so sorry for the rough photos ...

So are these your cars, or customers? And is it a labor of love, because it doesnt seem these cars have enough value in our area to justify alot of those repairs, which is a very sad thing..

yes these are my own cars two i have rescued as they would have been scrapped and i could not have that happen , the one on the car hoist i bought from a forum member as it was the right spec 66 year b20 with overdrive including a brake servo so every box ticked i bought that to tidy up and re sell on .

the white amazon will be forsale aswell when shes finished , after all my bits have been done its off to the bodyshop for a full respray then i can put her back together slip in the engine after a overhaul should be another 3 weeks and ready for M.O.T wishful thinking im sure

prices vary here but unless you can weld , do engine work and spray then these sadly get bodged up and passed on when it becomes tired i do hope they raise in value a little bit so they can be viable to save 9/10 rather than oh no bodywork needed and a respray scrap it or patch and offload sort of thinking in most cases.

so in the back of my mind i always try my utt most to save any i can and do my bit for them to carry on being a pleasure for someone and they can "motor along in sweet harmony with each other " yes indeed cars these days you drive and a true classic you motor along in thats the difference between new and old

Tony, it's great seeing all the work-in-progress shots.. my '68 blue 2-door needs substantial bodywork done, most of which you've covered so I'll be using the photos for reference!
I'm finally learning to weld and building up a good stash of tools, only wish I had the space you do.. for now I have to manage with a single garage with the Amazon under cover in the garden (Lotus Europa in the garage soon to be ready then its the Amazon's turn)

Steve
