Yes, mine went off just before the EGR valve was replaced at the dealer in November. No problems since.

Interestingly when I was adding a Fuelly fuel up today I looked back over the mpg since I bought the car. The lowest tank full was 35mpg, which coincided with the period when the EGR Engine fault light came on. Other fuel ups before and after this were 39-40mpg, so in my case the economy seems to have been affected.

Just had the first annual service last week and all well. I was slightly concerned about letting the dealership wash the car (heard the horror stories on the Forum about the gritty sponge at other dealerships.....). However they did a great job, and the car, alloys and interior looked fantastic. And as I have the 5 year service package it was nice to get no bill!

Thanks - that makes me less nervous about relying on the car over the next week or so.

When I spoke to the dealer they were quite vague and non-committal only offering that I should book it in asap and they'd look in to it. I'd already determined that was the case myself

I understand their position but compared to our experience with what turned out to be an EGR fault on my wife's car (a Toyota) they were much more open and forthcoming, telling her that it was a just warning to have it looked at rather than a 'pull over and stop now' issue and that it would be ok to use in the short term.

Just back from the dealership. It is the EGR Valve. Replacement ordered but no ETA as they are on back order.

Been waiting for over a month now and still no EGR at my dealer. They did ask for my mileage last week in an attempt to escalate the issue with Volvo.

The way everyone else has been waiting for parts does make me somewhat suspicious that my dealer had some in stock.... I wonder whether they were the pre-modification ones and I'll be welcomed back in a few months time to get another replacement. One thing I have noticed is that the mpg is awful from cold start now. It would usually hover around 10 or so for the first mile or two. It's now between 2-5 and takes longer to warm through. Hey ho, roll on summer and decent long runs again. Getting cabin fever after a few weeks near home

Default Here we go again...

My dealer has got back in touch and our XC60 is booked in for 12 & 13 March. The dealer talked me through their plan and I must admit that I am finding it hard to remember what they explained - although it seemed to make sense at the time! All quite technical.

We are having some new parts fitted. I think it's a cooler pump. The EGR valve and cooler have already been replaced.

The tortoise has been popping up now and then but engine performance seems fine. The dealer has suggested that fuel economy should improve when they have sorted it out.

Flux, that doesn't seem right. My dealer has been able to obtain the various parts and, as you know, their order was placed after yours. I have asked my key contact at the dealership about this on several occasions and he is consistent with me......"we have fitted the new EGR valve and cooler unit". This has had the affect of reducing the appearance of the tortoise, but not completely.

Now the dealership thinks that, following their last diagnostic work, the cooler pump is not operating fully. From memory (and I am struggling a bit here) they said this means that, under full operating demand, the EGR isn't being properly cooled. They have said that this is a 'moving feast' with Volvo Sweden learning as they go along and trying to pinpoint the fix. The latest seems to be something also connected to an update to an ECM(?).

I have concluded that they are doing their best and so they'll have another go next week.

In the meantime, I do think you need to have a 'chat' to your dealership. You've been waiting far too long.

Regards, Arianne

Ummm. Thanks for heads up on that. Does seem odd but haven't been chasing much so maybe a different approach needed now. A month is a joke really.

Just called dealer and parts arrived late yesterday so in next week for 1st service as well. Haven't had a visit from the tortoise for a fortnight now so will see what's up but guess they will put parts on anyway as it's a known issue.
