Default xc60 front windscreen

De-icer onto screen. Jump in car, start engine & set controls. Wham! My body heat immediately mists up screen. Takes 10min to clear. Re- read the Manual but nothing seems to work. Does anyone know if a retrofit electrically heated screen is possible?

Put your screen on full blow and then put both of your sun visors to almost fully-down position.

It will clear way faster.

Default xc 60 windscreen

Also make sure that you are not set on economy. Screen clears faster with it off.

I would start the engine 1st before anything else, then put the fan on full blast to move the air flow around.

Default blower

it is recommended that you put the blower on a low temperature to begin with and then gradually increase the heat

The car will do that automatically for you as it starts with the coolant cold and it gradually heats up

I think that perhaps you meant to have the blower fan on low speed and gradually increase it?

Don't fit the heated screen, mine drives me crazy at night. I curse it every time I drive it.

This is very much a personal preference. I love mine. It de-ices very effectively AND also de-mists if there is ever any condensation on the screen.
However, there are those who hate them. It's essential you test drive a car with the screen to check which camp you fit in.
