I was going to post a query about the "sticky up" passenger side, left, windscreen wiper on my "new" 2013 V60.....then I found this thread !!!.

Looks odd poking up on the screen but it appears it's normal then. !! ???

Need a word with the designers!

For me, it was more the question of was this normal, the wiper sticking up, this was the thread I found !!

Not a problem for me re seeing it , I don't fixate on stuff like this, riding a motorcycle teaches you this !!!

My reference was the surprise that it is actually designed to look like that !!

It's quite common on modern cars. My wife's Chevrolet Spark is the same, albeit to a lesser extent.
Personally, it doesn't bother me, I do find the reflection of the silver rings of the dials and air vents on the windscreen slightly annoying though.

bike instructor here. i thought the idea of having the wipers go below the back of the bonnet was for pedestrian safety this is why pop up headlights were removed from newer cars

Possibly so, pop ups for sure, wipers maybe,,,,or streamlining???
If the wipers were below the bonnet line for safety then surely Volvo couldn't get away from that ?? Plus they are really into the safety aspect anyway.

Whatever the reason, it looks off from the outside but doesn't distract internally.

Must get my bike cleaned too , no wipers on that

Hi lots of different makes and models share this design, the reason is the depth of the windscreen requires the drivers wiper to be so long to be able to reach the top of the screen. Consequently less space available for the passengers wiper , so to get some extra length they have to tilt the wiper up by a few degrees
It's one of those things you just have to live with
