Facelift is late 2007 early 2008 on S40/V50 and 2010 on the C30.

Personally I wouldn't bother with anything other than a 2012 model for two reasons:

1) Bluetooth music streaming is a godsend as you can control Spotify etc via the steering controls. Nobody uses MP3 players anymore, which means the (rather good) mp3 connectivity that the older C30's had is a bit pointless in today's music streaming age.

2) The additional 'Auto' DRL light switch position, meaning that the headlamps won't be toast as they finally have separate LED DRLs, instead of using the headlamps.

We have a 2012 C30 and the headlamps on it (halogen) are REALLY good, and I suspect the sole reason for this is because they aren't permanently on, like in the pre 2011 cars. (All cars manufactured after 2011 in the UK must have a separate DRL system), hence the new 'Auto' headlight option.

So can anyone relay the main changes, especially the R Design changes?

Try this link for 2012 model year, the Volvo Press release articles explain all the changes.

It's pretty much purely cosmetic from memory. New bumpers, lights, interior changed slightly and the T5 got a new map with 10bhp more and I believe they put a coating around the cylinder liners to help prevent the liners from splitting.

As previous posts have said along with me the model year to go for is 2012,sadly that was the last year of production of the C30 so numbers wise there are less cars on the used market as for T5 I would of thought even less so I think you need to take your time and wait for the right spec 2012 model to come up,I wish that I had done a bit more investigating before I took the plunge as I am now finding the lack of parking sensors and higher performance ICE unit becoming a pain to live with.

Wasn't it Wellington who said......

"Time spent on reconnoissance is rarely wasted!"

I'm inclined to spend way too much time researching these days, but it helps a lot so am always grateful to those who've gone before me and the dyed in the wool experts who populate the various fora!

Went in my first C30 last night as my friend has a 1.6d for sale (he's a trader). Obviously it's not what I'm after but it's still the first time I've properly got close up to one, and I have to say they do look great, especially with the R-Design kit. And to be fair the 1.6 diesel is fine for most people as it certainly doesn't feel underpowered or anything. Link to the one from last night, such a lot of car for the money and *almost* makes you think "why spend £3k+ more on one?" Almost but not quite!

Anyways, loved the colour and was great to get to see one close up. My hunt for a facelifted T5 continues!

Looks the business, but like chalk and cheese in performance and handling I suspect. Not a fan of two tone leather finish as the white sections get grubby quickly and hard to keep. Above average miles, how did it drive, any rattles or signs of wear? Was this diesel engine the wet or dry DPF version?
