Also finally finished the upper coilover crossmember. These tabs have the same 1.5" (3.8cm) inside spacing that the lower mounts do:
Decided to go with red spray paint because it makes it look faster: With that done and bolted in the car next up was making all the spacers. To center the coilovers in their mounts required eight spacers roughly 1/4" (6.4mm) long. I used a brass plumbing nipple that had the perfect bore for 1/2" (12.7mm) bolts: The spherical joints also required spacers to center them in place. Since I'm already using cheap joints as a temporary solution so I can just move the car I decided to make the spacers from plastic tube to save time. I made 20 of them from a 3/4" (19.1mm) PVC plastic plumbing nipple. They are about 0.542" (13.8mm) long and I bored them to 3/4" (19.1mm) with the lathe: That nice 316SS tube I bought was way too hard to drill on my baby lathe. I was hopeful that I could pull it off, but stainless has a bad habit of work hardening. Someday I will get access to a real machine to work with it and I'll drill them out to 1/2" (12.7mm). For now I made some temporary ones from mild steel DOM tube. The outer diameter was 0.503" (12.78mm) which is a bit too large to fit inside the spherical joints. So I had to carefully file them down to 0.497" (12.62mm) to get a proper slip fit: With spacers:

Since I'm on a budget I ended up going with mild steel links instead of the chrome-moly ones. This is what I got: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Swedge...read,2091.html
With all the little bits and pieces made and installed it's finally ready to receive the axle: Yesterday I reassembled the axle and I'm planning on installing it today. Once that's done the only thing left is to get some used tires for the Hydra wheels. Then she'll be rolling again.

Your post made me think about how long it's been since I started this thread. It's been 4 years, 2 months and 23 days since the beginning.

Hahahah, I'm not exactly sure how that happened, but it made me laugh (Let's not take ourselves too seriously, mates!)
Back to the build, I'll say it if you won't: TA-DAH!! And... you may laugh, or you may cry, but it is good to see everything together, 'cause in the midst of all the details I had lost track of what exactly you were doing! Can you summarize again - what, and why at least?
