Mate, the pump is not making any sound at all.
Tried taking out the fuse for the Main pump and checking there's a 12V feed still to the tank pump and it's silent... nothing at all. Also tried connecting the tank pump directly to the battery and it does nout... no whirring at all.

If that pipe is split the main pump wont be able to draw fuel up unless the tank is pretty well full then it will start . May as well replace the tank pump and hose ..
I have a tank unit complete in the attic i believe .

Ok, received my parts from FRF today.
This is a picture of the tank unit. The convoluted hose you can see is split. Now the whole assembly can slide up and down, which is only possible because of the convoluted hose. However, ordered a replacement hose from the diagram: And it's turned up to be about a foot of standard fuel hose?? I can fit it with that, but it won't be able to slide up and down like it can now. Why does the whole mechanism slide up and down?

The mechanism slides to compensate for the bottom of the plastic tank sagging when full of fuel ... the reason they supplied a straight length is that the convoluted hose is no longer available and some bright non engineer spark decided a piece of ordinary hose would so . You might find a convoluter hose elsewhere .

Thanks for your help guys and thanks Simon at FRF for the parts - just a shame the convoluted hose isn't available anymore.
It's all back together and working now, and there is definitely a whirring from the tank that there wasn't before! Cheers guys...... here's to hoping the Mini doesn't break now!!
