That's what I was envisaging when I last had the car on a ramp. Always nice to hear confirmation that it's a method that works though :-) Still sounds like a bit of a faff but it was never going to be easy :-|

I guessed that - either that, or you're considerably thinner than me (and I'm not exactly fat!) Fortunately I can get the car up on a ramp too - I can't see the job being possible otherwise.

I can't confirm it, but I'd not be surprised. I was fully expecting it to fail last time round but fortunately it was a very wet day so there wasn't much evidence of the leak. It's not a huge leak anyway - if it were, I'd have sorted it by now.

Cheers,

AJ

I'm trying to find a retro-fit in-line steering fluid filter. There's mention of one but no contact details. Has anyone got any info they can pass on?

Found a supplier on eBay. If anyone else wants one they are here:-

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Volvo...9331QQtcZphoto

They allegedly filter out over 99% of all debris floating about your steering fluid which beats a flush using virgin dextrone at £12 a bottle.. Has micropore filters and a strong magnet. Only $20 plus shipping. Wish I had fitted one last time I changed the rack and I wouldn't be having this aggro all over again. Let that be a lesson.

I bought mine from Aus - and bought a batch of em (I still have 4 in my parts box). Use them on the power steering and the autobox

They don't seem to have done any damage as yet - although wether they are doing any good - who knows. I suppose I ought to hack one up one of these days after its come off the car and have a look at what is inside - but I just can't be bothered.

Make sure you buy a couple as they reccomend putting one on initially for
a "short" time and then another for a longer period...

If I buy two together, I then go over the exempt from import duty limit and I get hammered for tax and then again for "duty collection" by the courier. I think the limit is £15, but correct me if I am wrong. What We need is a British supplier. Magnefine do supply OEM to Ford, so maybe they are available over the counter from Ford spares parts department.

Let me help you there. Here's one before, and one after allegedly some use.
