I don't think you could use it in a hill climb it would have to go up in reverse!!!
I love mad projects like this.
I had a friend who made a maestro pickup with a mid mounted audi turbo motor in it and that was stupid..lol

Good luck

You alrite buddy, somebody hinted in my corrado build thread on T5D5.org that there was a T5 Maestro..and yes there is!

Been having a butchers at your build thread, how far have you got with this?, it seems me and you both have similar ideas, as im using a s40/v40 gearbox to use a cotton reel engine mount, and probably the same on the engine side (may have to drill and tap some threads into the head) for the T4 engine mount on a T5, still looking into i t.

This is feckin awesome!!

This is one of the funniest threads I've read! Good luck with this and we need more piccys. Any chance you could paint it beige and put a trilby on the rear parcel shelf, as I'd love to be at the traffic lights when you leave behind various 'quick' cars and they can't believe whats just left them in a cloud of dust.

The Maestro was a fine handling car , it beat the golf GTI's on the race track in near standard MG form , The 150 bhp turbo maestro was terrific , but really too much power for the weight .. torque steer etc and a poor turbo managment system all the power suddenly came at once !

When I left school, I trained as an auto electician, (qualified too!) on Jags, Rollers and Range Rovers, the other part of the dealership was Austin Rover and when on road test in the fancy stuff, the lads from the BL side (as we called them) used to try and race us, we obviously used to leave them behind on the straights, but the MG Maestros and Montegos would always catch us on the twisty stuff. The turbos were really quick, but the torque steer was appalling, and they'd understeer for fun.

now this idea i like ! go for a stock scooby scoop, and dont paint it to match the car, this way, it'll add to the chuckle factor.
