Question Door handle issues on xc70

The door handles on my wife's xc70 are sticking especially the drivers door and the rear offside door, the lock mechanism on the rear door won't lock now when using the key fob or manually pushing the button down.

The rear electric child locks still function. I had the door panel off but I can't get the lock mechanism out as still attached to the exterior door handle, didn't want to force it as didn't want to snap anything.

When u push down the door lock button it does feel like it's connected.

The garage said I need a new unit at £166 😡 But surly there is a fix for this.

The door handles are the only thing that lets this car down, they have always felt flimsy and not up to the task.

Any suggestions welcome.

Are you talking about the exterior door handles not springing back when pulled? A bit of silicone or a dry teflon spray should sort them out.
The rear door sounds like a faulty lock. Does the door lock pin retract when locked?

The door popper doesn't move up and down as much as it should, the small Spring on the lock mechanism has come off but the white clip attached to the pin doesn't seem to engage with anything.

That's more than likely going to be the motors in the lock are contaminated with grease from the lock mechanism. The Haynes manual describes how to remove the lock. It is a diy job if your reasonably mechanically minded and like puzzles ! Yes there are loads of bits when the lock is dismantled . I did a driver's lock and it took about four hours but cost nothing. The motors, there are two of them, need strippi g and cleaning to restore performance an lock will work properly again. If you are not confident get new lock fitted as it will get worse.

I had a sticky door handle on my XC70, and also a sticking rear tailgate handle

Both were fixed with plenty of ACF50, including using the nozzle to dose the inside-of-door mechanism.

Been OK since
