£35.98 a pair delivered. The genuine ones would cost you £50.91 delivered but I'd not worry about the Volvo genuineness of this sort of item as it will operate infrequently and pose no problem even if it were to deteriorate, which it is unlikely to do.
Hi Tatsfield,
Did you have to unscrew the struts from their ends or did you manage to pull them off the ball heads?

Like I did in the photo below?

Sorry lucombo, but I didn't actually change these struts. My interest in the thread was merely that on a previous car I replaced the bonnet hydraulic struts with non OEM units and they were easier to fit and worked as well as the originals which were no longer available. My reason for posting was to draw attention to the lower price for an item which probably gets little use. How it detaches and reattaches I'm afraid I cannot say. Perhaps someone who has done this job will come along and advise.

Sorry for bumping. took me ages to find a cost effective solution but it may help others. Volvo wanted £50 for a replacement pair. SGS didn't recognise the Part number but offered to regas for £7.99 a strut plus vat and postage. I took a chance and ordered these off ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172649523269 and they work fine (after an hour of not being very clever trying to fit them - leave the struts off one end until you have refitted the dog guard). Cost me £7 all in. I went for the 80n version. shame they aren't black but hey ho.

I will report back if they prove not strong enough.
