Steering track rod
Hello all
Does anyone know if the track rod end with L/h thread is for left or right side of the car? |

Paul;
...not to make this more complicated than it needs to be, but... Just to be certain that we are both using the same terminology...what you are calling "Track Rod" is the Tie Rod (12) in this graphic from a 122/1800 service manual, and it has both RH and LH internal threads and Ball Joints (14) are unique to those ends, having mating RH and LH threads... Source: http://www.sw-em.com/Wheels_Tires_Su...ont_Suspension ...the trouble is...unless your name is Irv Gordon and you have the car's entire history and know that the Tie Rod was never completely removed and R and L hand side may have been swapped on reassembly, the best way to know which hand thread you need for a particular side is to check it visually and verify it...conversely, if you have a BJ with LH thread in your hand and you want to know which side of your particular car it will fit on, the method with 100% success is to hold it up to your car's BJs and visually verify...it's the only way to be absolutely sure, since this many years on, Tie Rods may very well have been off the vehicle and BJs on those front ends may very well have been swapped right to left...! It does not matter to be honest. Just ensure you know so you can tell the garage when they track it.
