Default Power Steering - Turning Left OK, Right - GONE or going bad

Hello again! We’re talking about a 1978 Volvo 245 2.1 Manual B21F

Rack isssie of course, but has anyone experienced only one side of power/assisted steering being functional? Turning right gave up a while back - but comes and goes. Turning left is perfect and never goes bad. Investigation so far lead to this NOT being the early style rack that could be adjusted (to the best of my knowledge).

Any input is appreciated-
best,
c.

If you jack the wheels off the ground does the steering turn freely?

Have you tried flushing the oil and replacing?

Hello there , your problem is due to the spool valve sticking in the rack body , something has broken , jamming the spool valve or least likely debris is blocking the spool valve inlet .

Not really a DIY repair unless you are very competent ! get it wrong & nasty things occur

A good second hand rack or repair at a suitable service such as http://canadapumpandgear.com/

Hope it helps you

Steve
