Insurance
Exciting, I know...I did a search but found nowt..my Footman James insurance seems to be shooting up..was wondering if you all had other tips to save me ringing 20 numbers...It was always great value but is now a good 50% up on what I initially paid..no accidents/claims, and I'm getting older...I get the feeling maybe they raise it each year hoping you won't bother changing...Or maybe it's par for the course with all insurers..
Thanks, d

Try Heritage Classic Car Insurance. I have been satisfied with this company for several years, and their premiums seem to be fairly static each year.

Do an online quote with your current insurer, then give them a call works in 90% of cases that you either get the quote or they reduce it to almost the same as the online one - done.

just try a couple of comparison sites (I use confused.com). Asking for anybody's own experience is almost useless as there are so many variables.

insurance rip off
Footman James seem to be hiking prices like most of the rest. Our Amazon policy went from £104 to £160 in 2 years! They don't want to do much if you go back to them with a better quote from elsewhere.
We went to Peter James who were very helpful and quoted £104 straight away without asking what we had been quoted by others. We still get unlimited mileage, breakdown cover and all the other bits we had with FJ. worth a try Peter

Always change insurer if poss to get introductionary quote. When I cancelled my 960 insurance thinking I was going to dispose of it and then changed my mind I was quoted as a new policy, almost €100 cheaper.

There's been a few complaints about Footman James recently on another forum I use. I tried to get a quote from them once; not at all impressed, and went to Lancaster, and still with them.

Since moving to Volvo I have found that Churchill appear to be sympathetic to the cars, undercutting my previous Insurer (brokered through the AA) by nearly half. I have been using them for five years, and still paying much less than I was with the AA, so it wasn't an illusion caused by introductory discounts.
But at the end of the day, there are many aspects to Insurance such as age, location, driving record, etc. and different Insurers will treat each of those aspects differently. Therefor, what's best for one person may be far from best for another. |
