The actual units have to be rated for HIDs for them to be legal, the V40 did have HIDs as an option so it is possible to have HIDs on our cars, MOT requirements changed as of the beginning of this year.
I have factory fitted HID's.....and a winter pack.....and a family pack.

I think my car must have been a demonstrator?

Completely agree with you regarding Osram Nightbreakers as I have been using these bulbs for a few years now and they are superb. They not only give off a much whiter, less candle like light but they are much brighter as well.

With regards to HID's, have you also noticed how much glare vehicle's retro fitted with these cheap kits cause as well?

The driver's who retro fit HID kits to their headlamps are so easy to spot, they might as well paint "Oi Copper" on the bonnet!

Agreed! When i first drove with them it was daylight but even at that, the reflection and "highlight" off road signs was incredible. On basis of that, I was expecting to get flashed by other drivers as in "get off full beam", but not a bit. So impressed, I've ordered another two for main beam...

And at £12.95 delivered, not exactly breaking the bank either and as a backup, kept originals in the really handy resealing plastic box the Osrams came in (now sitting in glovebox). Just need to say about longevity!
