Chuffing/exhaust blowing sound from EGR
Hi Guys,
I have a 2006 56-plate S60 185bhp D5 auto. The car is making a strange sound. When the car is cold and on tick over it is fine. But when the car gets up to running temp there is a strange noise coming from the EGR area. It can only be described as a chuffing noise or like an exhaust blowing sound. Its not there when cold but is when hot. I recently had the EGR position sensor replaced as I had "engine system service required" light came on the dash and wet into limp mode. I was hoping that was the cause of the problem and a new sensor (at £350)would sort the problem. But it didn't sort the noise out. I have removed the pipes to the EGR and cleaned it along with the throttle body but this hasn't help. It doesn't effect the performance. Has anyone had the same or know what it could be? |

Did you get to the bottom of this chuffing sound? Did this thread get moved. My D5 goes into limp mode only when hot & when I put foot down theres a chuffing/metallic/whooshing noise coming from low nearside, only when limping though??
