Default XC90 Fuel Flap not locking

Help, just bought a Volvo XC90 2010 and the fuel flap (not the fuel cap) will not close/lock properly. It’s closing over but not secured. This is my first XC90 and unsure if this is a common problem, and unsure how I could/should fix it, without it costing too much. Any advice welcome. Tia.

Give it time to lock. It's so you can have the car locked while refueling.

Lock the car, wait a few minutes and then try to open it, it should lock after the requisite time period.

Unclip the panel in the boot to access rhe solenoid, ch3ck there is power, 8f so undo the 2 tork screws inside the filler flap, take it apart and give it a clean and lube

If you're unlucky (like I was), you might just find that some of the teeth on the gears have broken off, in which case, a replacement assembly will be needed.
