1994 940 Volvo Guard 1 Normal Operation

Hello! Just joined. I have a 1994 940 turbo wagon. Great car. It has the Volvo Guard 1 alarm system. I have the original key fob. It locks and unlocks the doors just fine. My problem is I don't know how the system is supposed to operate normally. I don't know what the blinking triangular thing is, on the driver side A pillar. It has a button on it, but I don't want to press it. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

The attached PDF will tell you how the alarm is supposed to work and how you can configure it using the button on the triangular thing.
