Default XC90 T8 Supercharger Whine

Hi All,

Does anyone have noticeable Charger whine below 3,500 revs, particularly when pulling away in power mode?

Mine is a MY18 XC90 T8 (less than 1 year old) with 27k on the clock. Its in the garage at the moment and i have a MY19 T8 and it's not apparent. I wondered if it was an issue or whether the MY19 just addresses the noise.

I get a whine but on slowing down. My other half always thinks it sounds like an approaching emergency siren. It has always done this. I assume it comes from the 400v charger.

No particular whine when accelerating other than what I have always regarded as the normal noise of the engine which does tend to be rather more high pitched than you would expect for a big powerful car.

Strange. I hadn’t really thought about it but it used to whine when I first got it. It doesn’t any more. Other than the kids in the back...

I’ve only done 23k miles as well.

Could be the belt.. VW G60 used to develop the whine over time- new belt usually rectified the problem..
