Default V70 tyre wear

A letter in yesterdays Telegraph suggested that a tyre life of between 7,000 miles - 12,000 miles was normal for a current model V70. I am on 11,500 miles and there is still 4.5mm on the front. thecar is on Michelin Premacy

What tyre life are you getting ?

all depends on the model if your driving and the tyres your using, if you own a low powered variant and you drive like a old woman then your going to get a hell of a lot more life than a t5 thats driven hard, between 7k and 12 sounds about a fair average

Lucky to get to 15K - they "seemed" to wear quicker towards the end.

Made the mistake of not rotating - always used to do this, but no idea why did not undertake on this car.

Mine is a D5 with the 4C and I do like a "swift" drive in the NSL.

Have gone to Cotinentals to see how they last.

previously had some continental premium contact on my v70, and they seem to last a good while. But i do think rotating tyres is a false economy. The tyres on the back will last forever, putting worn ones on the back only means you gonna need new ones on there quicker. Tyres on the front of a big car usually wear at 2.5 to 3 times quicker.

Gosh this sounds very poor !!!

I'm changing to V70 (late July I hope) but at present have a Land Rover Freelander 2, yes one of those gas guzzling planet destroying 4 X 4's .... NOT ... I had my first tyre change at 55,000 miles at which point all 4 tyres were changed as they were at a re-markedly similar stage of wear. I will be very disappointed if the Volvo isn't somewhere close to this ...

prepare to be disappointed, you not gonna get anywhere near 50,000 miles out of a front tyre on a v70. Rear tyres maybe not to far away. Depends how much you pay and you perticular style of driving.

you are going to be very disappointed ! the front tyres last approx 20k if driven slowly and the rear tyres approx 30 k if the alignment is correct which seems to be a issue with Volvos,55k is amazing for a Land rover ! possible if driven at constant speed slowly on a motorway !

Hoping to get about 20 - 22k myself on 17" x 50 series tyres. Got 23k on a v50 on 18" 45 series Pirelli Zero Rossos and Michelin should last a little longer.
Also got 50k out of michelins on wifes toyota 60 series
Personal view is lower profiles tend to wear much faster.
It is ridiculous to be fitting £700 of tyres before you need a service!!!

I have just changed the front Pirellis on 18" wheels, 18,000 miles and they managed to get to the markers, however, i did think about changing brand as for some time i didn't rate their performance, especially in the wet, however a new set of rubber feels much better!

The Dunlops on the 19s are running 3.5/4mm at the front and 6/6.5mm at the back - after 1 summer of wear - I have winter tyres for winter!! I think it was around 9k miles!!!
