Default air con/interior blower

I have been using the aircon today and after leaving the car for about half an hour the interior fan has started on its own with the car locked up and obviously no key in the ignition. This has happened twice and to stop it the ignition had to be switched on and the aircon switched off and then turn the blower switch on and back off again.

just wondered if any one had this problem or ideas on the cause.

My initial thought was dodgy relay but then the aircon would probably stay on as soon as ignition was switched off.

Any ideas gratefully received.

(hot weather gives more probs than you think)

This is not a problem with your car. It is perfectly normal behaviour, in order to dry out the air conditioning system, and prevent odours!

This happens on my S60 and S80 about 50 mins after switching the engine off.

thanks for the reponse the car is a 2000 model with 145000miles.

didn't realise this was normal. I was more concerned that I would return to a car that had a flat battery.

Thanks for the response dodsterO. My wifes XC90 has this feature and the fan will run for up to 20 minutes when the car is locked.
