Dog guard
Hi, I have obtained a metal dog guard for my wifes 2001 V40, but there are no obvious upper mounting points. There are a couple of areas on the roof lining that look like they cover over the mounting. Do I have to cut into the lining to find the mountings, or do I have to buy some other bits and bobs?
Thanks Gary |

RE: Dog guard
If it is similar to the cargo net fitting, you will need a kit of parts from the dealer. It consists of:
1 Plastic Trim (for Left and right sides) 2 Brackets that bolt to the metal roof parts 4 screws for the plastic trim 4 bolts for the brackets. The rooflining of my V40 had "flat" circles embossed into it, this is where the brackets and trim units are fitted. It is a DIY Job if you are very careful, and to fit the brackets you need a long 10mm socket to make fitting easier. The fixing points for the brackets is about 4 cm behind the rooflining and difficult to reach with a normal socket. Bob |

RE: Dog guard
Bob,
Thanks for that. I have the bits from Volvo, I now just need the bottle to attack the roof lining! I have the same 'flat circles' that you have, so I assume I need to open these out? I'll start at the centre and keep fingers crossed! Gary |

Start with a smallish hole in the centre, beware that there is fiberglass in the roof liner, and this gets into your fingers, I recommend gloves for the cutting operation. It cuts easily with a sharp stanley knife!
