Question VOLVO C30 t5 best brake pads?

Hi everyone.
As it's now 2020, and there's the possibility of new products having appeared, can anyone advise me as to the best performing brake pads for when one wishes to
'drive it like they stole it'? I'm only interested in replacing pads at the front, and later on the rear, and longevity takes second place.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

I'm not having trouble, but as I'm planning on replacing them soon, as they are getting low, I thought I'd make enquiries as to the best choice, rather than assuming OEM are the best, perhaps trying EBC, MINTEX, FERODO, etc.
Thanks.

I don't drive it like I stole it, I'm paying the repair costs, however I am running Mintex pads up front with no problems and I tow a 1650kg caravan regularly.

The reason I use Mintex, they are half the price of volvo pads and do the same job just as well.
I also run them on my land-rover, which gets driven through ford's and water troughs off tarmac and the brakes still work as expected in stopping 2,25 ton of car.

Back in the day when I was building road rally cars we used DS11 pads but they needed to be bedded in or you had no brakes and needed to be hot to be fully efficient. On a cold morning it some effort to stop the car at the first junction and many would drive with their left foot on the brake peddle just to get them warm enough to work.. On a road car I would not recommend competition linings for this reason.

Paul.

What do you mean by "best"? At road legal speeds OE pads are liable to give the best compromise between braking performance, wear and noise.

If other brands can provide a superior mix of those characteristics but for less money then I'm sure Volvo would fit them at the factory and gleefully pocket the change.

Cheers for that. MINTEX are now a string possibility.

Food for thought. Thanks.

I used green stuff which I think are one up from the oem pads. They are great on the road and track. But will be changing mine to yellow stuff pads in the next month to get better braking longevity for track.

The following are a step up from the boy racer hyped stuff. They are expensive but, they WORK!

Ferodo DS2500 - tried and tested by many.
Ferodo DS / Brembo HP2000 - marginally less focused than the above (on track) and certified for road use, but a huge leap ahead from OEM and boy racer pads.

I appreciate that you ONLY want to change pads, but, OEM spec discs e.g. Volvo, Brembo, ATE are inexpensive and ensure a fresh set of brakes up front in addition to your pads. Also, heavily overlooked and probably what should be the very first thing one upgrades is brake fluid. Try MOTUL RBF600/660, again its tried and tested. Its pointless upgrading pads with your existing brake fluid, which will not be upto the requirements of higher boiling points needed for more spirited use.
