Oh yes, quite common. And also quite advanced for their day, with separate zones for driver and each passenger.

There are two basic types. The first has a latch type control lever and must house the condenser as it sometimes drips on your knee.

The second type has an infinitely variable rotational control located on the door card, just forward of the door release lever.

Most cars are fitted with them both.

Ha ha ha - good one - luuuve it - but they dont count as "accessories" as they are part of the standard package.

After I fitted the nice new screws from Ron, the rest of the recliner had to be "buffed up" too.

1 min later =

Finished.

pragmatognomon1972 from Greece on the Bay usually has stainless kits of these screws including the serrated washers. Not currently listed so get in touch if you need them. Buy some extra stuff to get the postage combined. I recommend him.

Default Cleaning / polish

Well the term "NOS" is not the same as "MINT" - but one of the spotlight rims did clean up.

Both My '67 1800s and 220 Estate were dealer equipped with Volvo air conditioners manufactured by Frig-A-King of Dallas, TX. The under dash evaporator for the 1800s above is almost finished being restored including having the adjustable outlet vents re-chromed.

Have done a mock up of the Volvo Competition Services manifolds and Weber carbs and air cleaner this week for the 1800s or 220 and air conditioner mounting brackets. The block and head are for the '68 122s station wagon B18 engine I am rebuilding. Both cars were dealer equipped with Volvo air conditioners manufactured by Frig-A-King of Dallas, TX.

Will be switching to a Sanden compressor as most do with these systems to replace the original Borg Warner two-cylinder unit which has always had vibration issues that lead to cracking the mounting brackets and are also quite noisy.

Default Air con & tuning parts

Hi Vintagewrench,

that is a truly OUTSTANDING job you have done there respect.

unfortunally do I not have enough space for the under dash evaporator, as I have both a Knee bar, and the first owners underdash console, with 3 Stewart Warner gauges fitted in my car.

The manifolds & airfilter looks good, will they clear the innerwing ?

Keep posting pictures, so we can follow the nice work.

I have the Volvo Competition inlet kit fitted to my 1967 1800.
You cannot fit the original inlet housing/filter ( i have that also but certainly on the RHD cars its impossible to fit)
The carbs are actually Solex 45ADDHE (earlier versions may have used the 45DDHcarbs) and not weber DCOEs. They are the better carb but like Betamax the weber obtained a stranglehold.
Jets and chokes can be an issue but i now have plenty, accumulated over the last 4-5 years.
I have since removed the foam filters and made a plenum with fresh air being directed straight from the nose cone. Better as nice cold dense air and the intake noise is substantially reduced.
The kit also comes with an uprated fuel pump (mechanical) and i also have that but took the decision to fit a Electric Carter 4070 next to the tank which allows me to prime the fuel chambers before i start the car (i live on a hill!).
