Default Adding LED DRL's to the S80

Hi,

I am considering adding the attached to the S80. I know I have seen someone post this or similar previously but I can't find the topic for love or money.

Questions I will likely need answers to are:
  1. How to connect the LED connection to the car - best practice.
  2. How to connect the additional LED (Amber for indicators) to the indicator circuit.
  3. How to turn off the Headlamps once the unit has been added.

Volvo do do a software update (Had this and will likely get it undone) which turns off all lights including the side lights. Totally unsatisfactory.
If I remember rightly some fiendish soul clipped one of the legs off one of the relays to take the headlamps out of circuit when the car was running and lights in the "0" position. Can anyone find the link?

Thanks.

There is an alternative you might consider...

The later facelift XC70 has LED DRLs:

These DRLs are pretty much a drop-in replacement for the completely useless foglights fitted to the P3 vehicles: http://forums.swedespeed.com/showthr...Running-Lights

There is a software patch that volvo can apply which is the software for the XC70 as shown which will activate the LED DRL when the vehicle is in daytime mode and the headlights in nighttime mode.

I've been wanting to do this to our V70 for some time, but finances haven't allowed...

Hi,

Thanks for that. I had seen the new DRL's and wasn't overly keen on them. I did see on the bay someone had an "Angel eye" fog insert which kept the fog light.

Yes, the fog is a little lack lustre. But then the H11 bulb is only 35W so I am not surprised!
I have been investigating swapping with an LED unit with a bit more ommph but also keeping a respectable light pattern too.

Hi,

They seem to work a treat!
Had the dim function wired to the high beam but otherwise no errors and they work as expected.
The White DRL's go out when the indicator function is in use and revert back when finished.
Must get some pics when it is not completely dark.
Gives the car a slightly different appearance.

Now to just work out which relay I need to attack to turn the head lamps off...

I'd be tempted to buy a pair if they came in the R-Design style! Did you have them fitted at the BKV?
