Soon as I bought my v70, I taken it to get mapped as the company told me they can flash with the obd and have done on various volvos. Taken it down to them and he sent me on my way in the ****ing rain, an hour later I received a call to come and collect as he can’t connect to my ecu! He handed me my keys and says I can drop the car off and he will remove the ecu....

I thought to myself, that approach wasn’t professional..... I thought you couldn’t map my car via obd but he had a super obd lead that he insisted will work.

Sadly I never returned and left the car on the standered map.

Wow, not ideal but at least you'll get a working / remapped car at the end of it? Although substantially out of pocket.

I looked into remapping when I got my V70 a couple of years back but the ONLY way to do it on these engines seems to be ECU removal; I was interested in BSR (http://www.bsr-tuning.co.uk/new/volvo-d5-215hp/) which would take my 215 to 245ps, but they need to send the ECU over to Sweden to do it which is not going to work for me.

I honestly think the safest, best (in terms of service, safety, reliability etc.) option here is Polestar...

Default Update

Got the car back on Friday last week and I must say its awesome. Apparently with the new ECU its in learning mode. Learning not to be a nutter :-) (Not Complaining). Its probably because its had all the latest software upgrades as well. Gearbox is sharper, kick down and response in general is more responsive.
In the end it cost me Just over a grand with some VOC discount. so well pleased.

Also Credit where credit is due the service Dept at Bristol Street Motors Derby, especially Luke where great can't thank them enough..

With the later cars, the Polestar remap also changes the behaviour of the gearbox as well. It will be this you are noticing!

While the effects of the Polestar upgrade are being discussed, does it have any effect on the 4c suspension? It would be great if in sports mode it tightened up the suspension without the driver having to fumble for the ill placed suspension setting buttons. I'd really like to have a foot button on the footrest to bring in or out the sports suspension, but if Polestar were doing this, I'd consider having it fitted .

I've not heard anything to suggest Polestar alters the suspension and with 4C being a rare option, I don't think it would be included in the maps.

Not all the volvo engine can be done via the ODB2 port, I've had 2 remapped the T5 was doable via the ODB2, port the D3 I had done was an ECU out job.
