Default XC90 Running Boards

Hi all, i'm looking at getting some running boards for my XC90. Does anybody know what volvo charge for them and fitting? Is it a easy job to do yourself?

I've had a quick look under my car but couldn't see any obvious spare holes.

Thanks.

Default Running Boards

Hi

I paid £500 all in for supply and fit from Volvo in Colindale, London.

I think it was £400 ish plus labour.

Couldn,t imagine it without them, adds a look to car that makes it stand out from ones without. Also handy for cleaning roof whilst standing on boards.

Considered fitting, as I believe it would be very simple if you have ramps.

regards

Didn't think they were THAT expensive - how lucky am I, I won a used set of genuine Volvo ones, with all the fittings, on Ebay a couple of days ago for £140 + £15 p&p

Will let you know when they arrive, but after emailing the seller, it appears that you remove 2 existing bolts at each end of each bars' location, and replace with 2 longer bolts that have been passed through the bar itself....

This photo of the ones I have actually purchased may help...

Update - they arrived yesterday, so after removing a couple of bolts to check length, ordered replacement high tensile bolts, 40mm longer... Picked up this afternoon, and fitted tonight - 30 mins or so max... And boy do they look good!!

Plus no more kids falling in or out of the car!!

Why did you need to order the new longer bolts, didn't they come with the boards? Can you do the job yourself without a ramp?

I've been looking for some on ebay but no luck for a while. Volvo are quoting £408 of my Great British Pounds all in.

The seller had lost the bolts when he took them off..... I just picked up some new M10 high tensile bolts that were 40mm longer than the existing ones - the 40 mm being the thickness of the mounts.

Didn't need ramps or a jack, clearance was fine, although at 15kg each (heavy for alloy) a helping pair of hands is advisable.

Hi All

I have been thinking about buying some running boards (have a search on e-bay running!) but have one question which has been causing me some concern. I once hired a 4*4 (can't remember which one was either a Jeep or that Hyundai thing I hated) which had running boards and they drived me crazy. Every time I got in the car I banged my lower legs against them and came back with bruised legs. Can someone let me know whether you have this problem with the XC90 please????

Thanks

Jamie
