Default Map update will not initiate

I have a 2012 XC60, I’ve downloaded the latest Europe map update to a clean usb stick from the Volvo website. I bring up maps in the car and insert the usb but nothing happens?
Do I need a software upgrade or something to get this to start?
Any advice appreciated.

I'm pretty sure a 2012 car is too old to do the Sensus updates without a software update.

The nav unit on pre-13 models needs to be updated by Volvo to accept USB updating by the owner.

I had my Sensus updated 2 weeks ago and the new maps I had downloaded installed first time with no problem.

You need to get the software upgrade done first.

Just tried doing mine but have run into issues, but thing I now know what the problem is.

First of all make sure your USB is formatted to Fat32 and not exFat.
Turn on the car and go to nav and then press the nav button again (at least this what I did).
This should then say "new software found" or something like that anyway.
This is where mine stops as it's asking me for a licence code, the dealer software update removes this code requirement I'm led to believe.
