Default 'Train Like' Rattling/Whirring Noise From Rear

Hi,

My 2004 V40 sport has a whirring / rattling noise coming from the rear. best way I can describe it is like a train. The rattling gets quicker the faster you go. Car has been sitting over the long weekend - could it be a residue build up on the disks /pads? Tracking was done a month or so ago and wheel bearings were ok then. tyre pressures ok so Im baffled. Any ideas appreciated....

Thanks,

Dan

Have you checked the wheel nuts are all tightened?

Anything stuck in the tread of the tyres?? like a stone etc...

Wheel bearing nromally make a humming noise that gets worse at speed..

it might also be a partly siezed caliper as they are known to have issues on the rear - ie is only just seized enough to gently clip the rear disk as it rotates

Thanks for the replies. I've been on a long run in it this afternoon and although it's still there, noise has lessened considerably. Mitch - I'm thinking you're on the right track with the caliper.

Sounds like a trip to ATS is in order.. Cheers.
