'99 S40 Immobiliser issues
Hi
Our S40 is refusing to start and we have the immobiliser light flashing. It started a few days ago and except for 10 shining minutes this afternoon has refused to turn over since. I did originally have two codes, one of which appeared to relate to the antenna ring for the key so i've replaced that with another which didnt seem to do anything but now I only have the one: ECM-9A Communication problems, Immobilizer. No communication this afternoon it did start several times but then when I went back to move it again its back to not starting. to clarify, when I say not starting I mean not turning over, I get all the ignition lights and the fuel pump is priming but no cranking. Any ideas?

Hi Andy,
Sounds like it could be the wire loom under the radiator which is a bit of a common problem. If it is not getting a good 12v supply or is unearthed that can cause loss of communication to the immobiliser module. There is a guide for it here. Maybe someone with more knowledge than I can elaborate further with regards measuring the continuity of the immobilizer wires.
