Do you think so
My preference for halogens is not because I really don't like LED's as such, although I find them almost to bright. They also emit a disproportional amount of blue light. Since I (almost) don't drive on dark roads, I can do without these bright lights.

Give me LED lights every time. They are outstanding in rural areas. The turning function with the steering wheel is itself a great feature while the active shadow technology, lighting both sides of the road while dipped behind a vehicle is a fantastic safety feature. I can do without the basic auto-dipping though, because on my local roads which are neither straight nor flat, they are sometimes slow to dip for oncoming traffic.
The replacement cost is a worry for long term owners of course, but the increased visibility and safety makes them worth it for me.

I’m looking forward to my S90 T8 with adaptive headlights, hope they compare well with Mercs.
Hopefully taking delivery in November and will be moving from a C class hybrid which has standard LEDs. Before my C class arrived, because of delivery delays, I was loaned a CLS which was fitted with Mercs adaptive lights, I was so blown away with their functionality on dark A roads and was gutted it was too late to change my spec. Seeing a black box surrounding a car in front is nothing short of magical. In my opinion anyway |

What will the car "do" that's already in the shadow (when the other one was first to react)? Will it keep its headlights on and blind the other driver or will both cars create a shadow?

You're still on dipped beam even if part of the high beam is shaded out. FFS.

Yeah, for the system to detect an oncoming car I'm certain even position lights would suffice..

I had a 2015 AMG GLA45 which had intelligent light system, I am guessing they have been updated since, but the system on my AMG was night and day different to my 2019 XC60 T8, I had to run the AMG on manual lighting system it was so bad with high beam assist.
