Not being cheeky or anything but how would you know if they last longer than the original rubber Volvo ones ?

You would only really know if you waited another 25 years after replacing the original ones that lasted 25 years

Silicone vs. Rubber Hose
Wondering if silicone is better than rubber hose for your vehicle? Find out the pros and cons of both. Flex Technologies makes silicone hose in the USA.

DRAWBACKS OF SILICONE
Permeability to oil and fuel
The molecular structure of silicone doesn’t play well with oil, fuel, and other oil-based products. We do not recommend using silicone hoses for any applications where they will come in contact with fuel or oil.

Permeability to water molecules
Silicone is watertight, but water vapor can escape very slowly through the walls of the hose. Think of a balloon that you blow up with air and leave on a table for a week. The air escapes very, very slowly through the walls of the balloon. There’s a similar effect with silicone, and if you have silicone hoses on a car that you use as a daily driver, you’ll find yourself having to replace water in the reservoir from time to time - not because you have a leak, but simply because the water is escaping through the walls of your hose. While silicone hoses are a must for racing applications, some people don’t like them in a daily driver.

I literally thought the same thing Mark, if the original has lasted 25 years and over 200k miles then how do you know the DO88 ones will last longer?

I went for the genuine Volvo ones (which are supposedly made from an oil resistant rubber) over the DO88 ones as my personal experience of silicone is that it doesn't fair well with oil, they get covered in oil every time the filter comes off and if it isn't cleaned off properly/the O-ring between the cooler and the filter elbow is leaking then silicone won't last long.

Default Silicone hoses

My OEM hoses haven't lasted 25 year and were replaced at least once. The replacement hoses in attached picture were swollen like this after about 6 years. I replaced them two year ago for DO88 ones, so time will tell.
On their website DO88 mentions their intercooler hoses to be oil resistant, so I am inclined to believe that the same will apply to the oil cooler ones. Also the outer surface is much smoother than a rubber hose, even after two years.
We will know in a few years time...

Hose Quality Recommendations. [Editor] Hoses: The BEST quality hoses come from Volvo: they seem to last much longer than aftermarket hoses, even those labelled "OEM" by aftermarket suppliers. See the photo to the right of three turbo coolant hoses, from the top: new Volvo, 225k miles Volvo, and 15k miles/2.5 years aftermarket. Note the pronounced hose rot in the bottom hoses despite being only 2.5 years old. In this case, the aftermarket hose failed, causing a massive coolant leak. Because your cooling system is so important to engine lifespan, this is one area in which you do not want to economize. So buy Volvo brand hoses from a dealer or reliable supplier who can obtain the originals.

Hose Clamps: For super reliability, use Breeze stainless band Liner clamps which never rust and do not cut your hoses. Volvo OEM clamps are a good second choice; avoid the screw clamps with screw threads cut through them which tend to wear your hoses.

I last changed them 12 years ago, back when they were £10 each! Seem to be holding up ok, I cover them with a plastic bag before removing the filter and then spray dettol on them afterwards to attempt to remove any stray oil. Perhaps a splash of engine degreaser would be better?

Rubber or silicone, I'd still do the same.
