engine info b18- b20 info
hi guys , i have a b20 engine single carb ,in this stock form what is its power bhp? compression ratio?
how do i date the engine ? i was hoping to bolt on a supercharger and run a max boost of 7psi. in stock form are these strong engines ? |

B20A ( single carb ) is about 90 bhp , B20B twin carb is 118 bhp and B20E injection is 135 bhp
The volvo tuning kit raised this to about 180 bhp and todays racing versions mainly in marcos cars are over 200 bhp . Yes very strong with forged crank shafts and the very best quality Mahl pistons . we raced a marcos with a B20 in the early 1970s it won the freddie dixon modified sportscar championship with the driver John Northcroft .. We later built a paxton supercharged version ,

Did you ever get chance to bolt on that supercharger?

yes it got built and tested and went very well with well over 200 bhp , but alas the owner/driver died before he had chance to race it and it was sold and ended up in sweden somewhere . It was very distictive with a volvo 240 grille low down at the front
