Hi, this happened to me - if your car is more than a few years old I would check your turbo hoses especially the inlet hose that connects to the turbo charger. They should be very stiff rubber but over time become softer and a bit spongey - if you can squeeze them in with your hand then they need to be replaced.

The symptom is caused by the low pressure in the inlet when the turbo is giving a lot of boost. It collapses the inlet hose restricting air flow which the car senses as a turbo problem. However once you slow down it will be okay again.

Its not serious and its an easy DIY job - I replaced all three hoses and jubilee clips - the parts came to £103 + VAT but you could probably get away with just the main turbo hose which was £39

let me know how you get on.

Default mis diagnosis

Be careful about fault diagnosis as I spent 60 quid on a solenoid that wasnt needed, volvo dealer wouldnt take it back either..so had to fit plus find out what the issue was..(skint now for month so volvo is off the road due to insurance issues)..

Sorry to hijack an old post, but where did you get the hose from? Volvo are quoting £82

Thanks
