xc70 ex traffic lower front balljoint
i got an advisory on the mot for play in drivers side lower balljoint-anybody got a link for quality part at decent price-i assume this is just the 3 bolt type and same on standard cars[mine is ex police]
and i think its shocking that the balljoint should have play after 190k miles-what is the world coming to...lol |

Meyle and Lemforder are good makes, but it's worth giving FRF Motors Swansea a ring (main dealer). Quote C3 as a discount code for members on here.........you may be surprised....or not.
You can find them here.....https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=57125 Forgot to say.....give then your VIN number to be sure........

Mine are riveted in to the wishbone. It can be replaced if you drill out the rivets and replace with bolts but it's not a simple bolt off bolt on job.

I’ve not had cause to do it yet but understand that the simplest method is to replace the entire lower suspension arm. There are a number of “how to’s “ on YouTube.
I prefer the one’s by “Sir Robb”. I believe that he has some connection with this forum with another name but I cannot remember it. Maybe someone else will be able to enlighten me.

Shocking indeed.
For some makes it might be that the rest of the car doesn't survive until 190K, meaning that the balljoint is all that remains. |

joint
thanks for replies
the arm replacement all of it is an option but if i did this i would do a pair also some of the bushes on the traffic cars are different so i wouldnt want to do one at a time as far as removing rivits thats fine-grinder and air chisel/punch are available to do the job-will have to have a look but its wifes car mot this week on her skoda so that takes priority |
