Default fault code

2003 volvo s40 turbo has a fault stored in ecu ... torque limitation activated , or anti torque activated..this fault is when you put power down in 345 gears and it coinsides with the traction light flahing ,if you turn tracion off all is well ?
any help would be appreciated

Sounds like a misfire.

Check your spark plugs. Could also be the coil packs causing this.

EDIT: Just noticed you said it doesn't do it with traction control off - Could be ABS sensor? I think the traction control stops the ECU from readings from the ABS sensor which is used for detecting slippage of a wheel etc.
