Getting the XC90, new 19 model or used?
Hi everyone.
We ended up going for the XC90 as the new family car. We got a Tesla Model S and BMW 3 series now and the BMW is the one getting the kick. my main concern is that no one seems to be able to tell me anything about the 2019 model or when its coming. will it have facelift or will it pretty much be the exact same as the 17-18 model. My worst nightmare would be to go for a used 17 or new 18 model and then a few months later wake up to the news of a brand new and much improved 2019 model As of now we have a dealer looking for 2017- models in germany as they can often be found with much more extra upgrades for the same price as in Denmark where i live as we have to pay 150% Vehicle registration tax So a brand new XC90 inscrption d5 fully packed with extras is around 177.000£ What would people here recommend? waiting for the 2019 model. Go for a good used xc90 from at least 2017 or going for a new 2018 model. The model we are aiming for is the d5 inscription |

I'd recommend emigrating. But that's probably not the most helpful answer you were looking for.

Volvo launches the next model year (MY) in April/May of the current year. In other words, any new XC90 being delivered from now (May 2018) will be a MY19 and the specifications of MY19 cars are now available (in the UK at least). So, any car produced after May 2017 is a MY18. There are no substantive differences between MY18 and MY19; mostly just repackaging of the options.
Given the tax situation in Denmark, I'd say a good second-user car is an attractive option.

Dont think there will be any major changes, just standard spec upgrades. |

thanks for the PDF, the prices actually made me a bit dizzy! lol... At least the taxes are not 180% as they were 2 years ago.
Well. Its good to see that the 2019 model is pretty much the same. The people at our local Volvo just couldnt tell us anything about it. And i think i saw something about Sensus going Android and TomTom as the navigation from 2019. But when is the XC getting facelifted then? is it getting a total redesign in 2021 as i have read as a rumor. because i could live with that |

If its anything like the Mark 1 XC90 the face lift will only consist of small rear light cluster mods that only those who drive them will ever notice.

Hi - we had a great holiday last year driving over to and then around Denmark. I only saw 1 new XC90 (due, in part, I assumed because of the taxes!). Tesla cars do seem popular, because I think your purchase taxes are much lower on zero/low emission cars? Does that make a T8 cheaper than a D5 in Denmark?

Hi. I lived in Risskov just outside Aarhus. Lovely place. Must admit I'm shocked at your 150% tax but it when I think about it even in the 70s when I was there most people drove small cars due to the taxes.
Did you not consider the T8?
