Slammed my driver's door, heard a tinkle outside. The glass had just fallen out. This happened on the left side last year. Superglued the glass back in, and left it with three post office elastic bands, in case it doesn't hold. Also filled the tank with diesel - the petrol I put in last November should now safely be a frightening memory.

Did the gear linkage bushes again on the V40 this evening. Previous set have lasted 30K miles which is pretty good I guess. Oh and then went to check the underbonnet levels on the C30, noticed the driver steering rack gaiter has completely come off due to a "bits of tin bits of board, glue them together you've got a Ford" failed cable tie. The V40 uses this weird material of a bygone era called 'metal', which is why the thing is still holding together.

Drove to work via the small road with passing places as I always do this morning, met a lady in a mk6 fiesta who obviously thought her car was above being driven through puddles and mud and so just ploughed on towards me regardless instead of moving 3 feet over, a kerb wheel interface ensued, if you're not willing to drive on such surfaces then you shouldn't be on that type of road in the first place!

So decided to wash it on the way home, the small pound coin sized bubble of what I thought was rust popped to reveal clean steel and what looks like a spot weld, whatevers gone on there then?

Dent puller, maybe? Doesn't explain the paint bubble though. Odd one.

Indeed it is an odd one, I was going to touch it in with my paint stick but I can't find it so I just dusted the area with some clear coat I found to protect it from the elements.

I also set about removing the whatever the heck this crap is that builds up on my wheels but never comes off with a normal wash, I'm aware that it needs doing properly but for 15 minutes work with cillit bang and a worn scourer it's not come out too bad, although once warmer months come I will split the wheels and machine buff the barrels to get things nice and shiny, this is also the last time I will ever have wheels featuring chrome barrels, such a pain to keep clean lol

Fitted a "new" door seal on the drivers side rear, surprised by how easy it was to do, over and done in 10 mins. The old one had a rip in the soft bit down by the seat so, fixed!

That reminds me of my Yamaha R1 exactly the same but about double the size of your polished area every 2 weeks I had to clean them with autosol.

Yeah, that autosol is good stuff. I used to use it on my Yamaha, 30 years ago. Not seen any for ages though, is it still available?
