Default xc60 tailgate internal handle removal/installation

How to remove the said handle and reinstall it later? It has two screws which are no problem, but there's also some kind of hook that is a PITA to unhook and even more so to reattach (I guess).

Any input?

Here's the handle pic and you can see the headache-hook

Took mine out last week for the first time. Don't recall it being too difficult to get out, although the main tailgate liner was a proper swine

Try wiggling the bottom, wider section from side to side a bit, then pull it out in an arc, wider section first, so the tag is the last bit out (then first back in when you replace it)
