Yes, but the heating control box extends behind the blank space and the mounting clip for the fascia takes the rest.
It is not an ideal position as the gauge is obscured when the wheel is turned, but it fits with a slight alteration to the fascia, and a feed for the backlight is already in place (there for the unused switch positions). Also the installation can easily be reversed, if necessary, by changing the fascia panel.

Boost gauge choices
Wow!
What a selection of boost gauges to choose from!! Ideally I would like one with a green backlight to match the standard Volvo dash lights. Then I have to decede whether to go forward to the 'bar' or stay behind at the psi counter.! With 4 bars being the equivalent of only 0.27bar I can see the temptation to overboost already. Now I really am confused.com!!! Shaun |

Boost Gauge
Well,I've finally decided on which boost gauge to buy, except that I havent, quite.
I want to fit a gauge that fits in with the existing dash lights etc, which are black faces with green lighting. I want to buy a metric gauge,ie bars rather than psi. but how many bars. 1 or 2? Karlos UK recommends 2 bar, but surely the white needle will move more on a 1 bar than a 2 bar? Ive chosen a gauge from the "Tim" range. Can you pass on your experience with regards to increasing boost from a lowly Low Pressure Turbo. Thanks to those who have already contributed to my dilemma!! Shaun |

I see no problem with going for the 1 bar one if you're just planning on upping the boost and leaving everything else standard for now.
Here's my dashboard, with, funnily enough, a 1 bar tim boost gauge fitted: You can't ask for much better than that lol. 1 bar is 14 psi ish, and you won't be going past 12, which is more like 0.8 bar, so if I were you I'd get the same one I have got. The gauge lights up green too. |

The Gauge was about £8 +p&p from ebay (used)
It doesn't quite fit in the gap without a bit of modification The front of the gauge is held on with a metal ring, you can pry around the edges, and it'll come off, along with the little bit of glass/plastic. (You can see why I didn't buy a new one.) Then I took a little notch off the remaining casing here and there to make it clear the odd bit of plastic so that it sits flush with the hole. It's not quite perfect to be honest, if you look at it side on, its set back a little bit because the gauge face isn't quite flush with the front of its casing. This is why if you look at the picture, it doesn't look like its in the center of the hole. I'm going to remove it from its casing entirely, and I expect it to come out looking something like the standard boost gauge, and then it'll fit in nicely with the original hardware. I'm not one for sticking bits here and there on the dashboard as you can see lol. I'll take some pictures of it next time I have it apart, maybe in a week or two. |

Neither am I Chris, but Volvo leave me little choice,as there are no spare slots to fit the gauge into.I dont have any boost gauges fitted in the dash, and the temperature gauge is in the centre of the place where both your gauges sit.
Somebody somewhere needs to come up with a weatherproof pod that sits over the air intake in front of the windscreen!!! Any way, more seriously, how much do you want for your now non standard gauge? It cost £8.00 on Ebay before you altered it to fit. Shaun |
