Nokian Weatherproof Tyres
Fitted 4 Nokian Weatherproofs to my xc60 d4 less than 18 months ago and covered approximately 10000 miles in that time, unfortunately now I am having to replace all 4 tyres as they showing signs of deterioration between the tread (deep cracking) which started just after 12 months it would appear on doing some research this seems to be a problem with the Nokian Weatherproofs.
Would be glad to hear if anyone on here has had this problem |

Not related to your post but on the same car had Bridgestone Sports on the rear when I bought it and they lasted for 55K. |

Ran Nokian Weatherproofs on my XC60 D5 for 20k miles/18 months with no cracking - suggest you check date of manufacture on sidewall. Incidentally Bridgestones on my wife's Fiesta are cracking in the tread grooves after 15 months/7k miles - Bridgestone did not want to know therefore I will not be buying Bridgestone tyres as replacements!!

All season tyres are not good in any season. It's best to have one set of summertyres and one set of wintertyres.

That's really no longer true of the top flight boots. The CrossClimates and Nokian Weatherproof perform admirably in all conditions, and only really give up a little ground when driving hard in hot weather. 90% of the time they perform better than the typical summer boot, and in the snow they're as capable as all but the very best specialist snow rubber, which aren't freely available in the UK anyway. They're no longer a compromise, and these days are a viable all year round option with favourable wear and performance characteristics.

I think for our climate you're right. For Sweden where the poster lives, the case for two sets is better made.

Maybe. There has been a debate in my country whether it should be legal with allweather tyres as they are slippery in icy konditions and can overheat when it's 30 degrees C in the summertime and get slippery also. But atm they're legal.

Hi guys,
I'm so glad I found this thread. I keep on getting different info wherever I look, so I really am looking fwd to hear different opinions. My problem is that in winter time we get anything from +5 to -15, but mostly around 0 or a few deg below. And in summer we easily get 35 (in shade) with peaks going to 45 (in shade). So if the all-season rubber gets slippery around 0 deg in winter and also slippery over 30 deg in summer, that is a clear no-no for me, and 2 sets are far more secure option. |
