Default Real world MPG MY15-17 XC60 D5 215/220 AWD

I'm considering replacing my daily driver (V40 D3) and weekend waft about (XC90 D5) with a XC60.

My daily commute is about 5 miles urban, 18 miles of country roads then about 30 miles of usually free running motorway at 75-ish.

What is the economy I should expect from a XC60 AWD Geartronic D5 with the later engine? I previously had a MY17 XC60 D4 (VEA) FWD Manual and was getting about 42-43 mpg on the same run...

Apologies if this has been covered but a search of the forum didn't bring anything up...

I would knock 15% off your FWD figures and you’ll be thereabouts. My XC70 D5 Geartronic returns 36-37mpg combined. A typical journey being through town for 2 miles with traffic from cold, then up to 50-60mph for 10-15 miles. When warm, cruising at 60mph on the A9 she will return 45mpg comfortably.

Mine's a 2015 MY D5 AWD with polestar.

The On-Call App is showing mine as 39.2Mpg over about 20,000 miles of driving.

Most of mine is motorway/A Roads but I'm Happy with that, besides it was purchased to munch miles in comfort with 1,2,3 or 4 people up.

My commute is mostly motorways, but my D5 AWD Manual, gives me about 38-40 MPG.

So - as this clearly was a top question on everyone's mind.... I just had to go and get one to find out!!

I've now added a 2015 XC60 D5 (215) AWD Geartronic SE LUX to the fleet... it's done 102k but is absolutely mint.

Did have an issue with occasional hard shift from R or P to D but a transmission fluid change seems to have sorted that now it's re-adapting.

And the answer is.... 37 MPG which is about 2 MPG more than the dashboard is telling me. On the exact same commute my previous MY17 XC60 D4 2WD manual did circa 43 MPG so AndyB06 you were spot on suggesting a 15% drop (which I'm quite happy with). Still a long way of the V40 D3 Manual which does 55 on the same run..... :-~

Also it's currently on almost new Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Seasons which when fitted to my previous XC60 hit the MPG by about 3 (when compared to the factory Continental EcoContacts).

My MY 2016 manual with Polestar has been doing 37mpg. I'll be doing this years calculations at the end of the year. I always reset the trip and fill the tank up as far as possible each time and record the fuel added, then do all the maths once a year.

That's the only way to do it... the onboard computers are never quite right.
