Volvo should have been shot for the quality of the seat covers in the Active model. When I was looking for my XC90, every Active that I ever saw on the internet had that dreadful wear on the drivers seat bolster. Why ruin a perfectly good car for a few extra quid at the build stage. I know that some people who own an Active have bought a full set of used leather seats and installed them. For a couple of hundred pounds it seems to make sense .

Hi,
Just spoke to the dealer MOT passed all advisories addressed as seen on the GOV website, the problem causing limp mode was the air flow mass sensor(they've ordered a replacement to repair the problem) should be all sorted by Wednesday/Thursday then I'll finally become a XC90 owner! Is the air mass flow failure just general wear and tear for the age (132k miles MY2010 10 plate) or could it mean something more sinister? Thanks again. D. |

Upholsterer will sort the bolster
Hi car sounds nice.
2 friends have the active and both had worn bolsters from 80 000 miles. Both have had them repaired by car upholsterers for less than £100. As it is vinyl the match is perfect. Just find a local car upholsterer and they can sort it quite cheaply. Good luck. PS Treat yourself to a VIDA/Dice diagnostic system. The best £200 you will spend on your XC90. See other threads on here as people sell them ready to go.

One other question, the parcel shelf has gone missing sometime over this XC90's life I've found a replacement near me for £25 off a 2013 XC90 that matches the interior on mine, surly worth it for when in 5 seat mode?

As has been said, worth it at that price just to 'complete' the car. However be aware that quite a few folks run without them, myself included, because without faffing around with felt pads etc. they tend to rattle a lot and introduce a lot of unwelcome noise into the passenger compartment.
That's the other thing which I think Volvo should be shot for, the intrusiveness of trim creaks and rattles on what was an expensive top of the line model back in its day. I've owned two and they've both been as bad as each other. I didn't experience it in my V70 or XC70 which felt vastly superior in terms of trim quality.
